Ganesh Place
Ganesh Place is a forested tract of land in Durham, North Carolina, that was donated to the Sri Shivabalayogi Maharaj Charitable Trust for the first North American ashram of Sri Shivabalayogi. The ashram is administered by the Trust, of which Sri Swamiji is the director. The name derives from the fact that the devotees of Sri Shivabalayogi view him as an incarnation of Ganesh, the elephant-headed deity who offers special protection to devotees and families.
Ganesh Place Expansion
The first stage of the project was to build a house that serves as a residence for Sri Swamiji when he is visiting and as a meditation and program center. To accommodate for the current growth, the main building has been expanded to include a large enclosed deck which will be used to facilitate meditation programs.
Panchmurthy Temple
Plans for the construction of a Panchmurthy Temple (temple to five deities) and lodging for visiting devotees are underway. Donations are being accepted for this project and may be sent to the Sri Shivabalayogi Maharaj Charitable Trust, c/o Mrinal Singh, 111 East Franklin Street, Louisburg, NC 27549. Donations are tax-deductible.
